Easy Mini Apple Pie With Crescent Rolls and Canned Apple Pie Filling

How to make a quick and easy mini apple pie with crescent rolls and canned apple pie filing.  This dessert takes about 30 minutes from start to finish, and they taste delicious.

Earlier this week, I was really craving something sweet but I didn't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  My standby quick and easy dessert is either a peach or apple dump cake since I have so much canned pie filling.

One can only eat so many dump cakes, so I came up with this easy crescent apple pie.  It took about 10 minutes to assemble, so it was quick, easy, and yummy!

This isn't completely original--I've seen crescent pie desserts before.  But I did add my own spin to the classic recipe with a few tricks my grandma taught me.

This would be amazing with vanilla ice cream on top!  Unfortunately, we didn't have any.  I will make sure that I do for next time!

Easy Mini Apple Pie With Crescents and Canned Apple Pie Filling

I love these easy mini apple pies with crescent rolls because they are so easy to make!  It was one of the first desserts that my kids could make almost on their own.

It really is a no fail recipe.  The only way to ruin these is with a sub par apple pie filling.  But adding a few extra ingredients even makes that part fairly forgiving.

These can be a special treat for breakfast or brunch.  Or make them as a snack or dessert.

These are great on their own.  You can also drizzle some white icing on top or caramel.  Or you can top with vanilla ice cream.

Best Store Bought Canned Apple Pie Filling

I make my own apple pie filling, and hopefully I'll blog that soon.  Chances are that you'll have to get your pie filling from the store.

Don't worry; there are some store bought pie fillings that are pretty tasty.

Duncan Hines Comstock Original Country Apple is readily available, inexpensive, and has a good texture and flavor.

I make my own applesauce, but if I do buy it, I prefer Musselman's.  Musselman's also has an apple pie filling that is tasty.

If you want to get really fancy, there's an Amish Made Apple Pie filling that has great reviews on Amazon.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Canned apple pie filling
  • 2 cans of crescents
  • 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 8 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar
  • cookie sheet
  • silicon mat or parchment paper

Directions

Step #1

Line your baking sheet with a silicon mat or parchment paper.  These mini apple pies will leak, and it will make a mess.  Clean up was a breeze with the silicon mat though!

Step #2

Unroll the crescents and pinch two of them together to form a rectangle like shown below.

Step #3

Spread a thin layer of butter or margarine on the crescent dough.

Step #4

Place a spoonful of apple pie filling, about a teaspoon of brown sugar, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on each rectangle.

Step #5

Pull the corners together to wrap up the filling like a mini pie.  Pinch the dough together.  As you can see in the photo below, mine didn't seal completely.  You can see how little filling leaked out.  Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.

Step #6

Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

Yum!  This made 8 crescent apple pies with two packages of dough.  The total time to make this was about half an hour and clean up was easy!
